HSG248 – Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures

This is the Health and Safety Executive’s 2006 first edition of HSG248. It is a fairly technical document detailing good practice with regard to surveying, sampling, public and employee safety, demolition, and the encapsulation of asbestos.

This publication consolidates and updates technical guidance from a number of HSE sources, including previously published guidance note (EH10 – ISBN 0717609073 – MDHS – ISBN 0717606775 and MDHS39/4 – ISBN 0717611132)

PDF. The guide is available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. This version is free and is a facsimile of the printed version.

The HSE warns “reference samples on pages 74 and 75 of the hard-copy version were printed to a high quality and colour faithfulness in the HSE printed publication. Local printing of the same pages (pages 93 and 94) from this HSE web version is unlikely to produce sufficiently high-quality reproduction for reference purposes. Analysts carrying out laboratory work should therefore use a HSE hard-copy print of the publication for more reliable colour reference purposes”.
